American Insurance Association, with certain amendments; and " WHEREAS, pursuant to SectiOn'6 43(1)(b) of the Code of Ordinances of said Village, automatic sprinkler systems are re= quired in all buildings with certain exceptions; and WHEREAS, Elementary School'llistrict 53 has undertaken con- struction of an addition to Butler Scbol. in .the Village of Oak Brook, which construction includes, in part,_ construction of'4 an for use by children, teachers, and the general public; WHEREAS, the,plans and specifications..fer said.construction prepared by John A. lacopi and Associates, 'Architects & Planners, have been reviewed Slid approved by the DuPage County Regional ' . Superintendent of Schools as in conformance with "State of Illinois Efficient and Adequate Standards For The Construction.Of Schools ", Circular Series A, No 186,, as ,revised; and WHEREAS, said Circular A,, No. 156; J.n,not requiring;auto- matic sprinkler systems in construction such as has been'under- taken at Butler School, cenflints with the Fire Prevention Code the Village of Oak Brook; *4 WHEREAS, in the opirxion of`the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, modern' life safety standards such as contained in the Fire Prevention Code of the Village of Oak Brook serve to maximize and enhance the safety and protection of persons."; and°property' fres the dangers of injury or death as a result of fire; *nd WHEREAS, despite repreated requests by the said Village the Board'. Qf Education of`Elementary School District -53 has not -re- vised .its plans and specifications for the Ongoing construction at Butler School to include automatic sprinkler systems; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF Thx VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND yCOOiC;COUNT1'ES, ILLINOIS as follows: . Section 1: That the President and Board of Trtstees�of' he Village of Oak Brook urge the School Board clf.Elementary Schol District S3 to reconsider its position regarding automatic,Sprinkler • systems and to commit itself to installing same in `Butler School and its other properties am:sOnn as possible'to aaaure:'the maicissum- protection of children, teAalers and the' genefal lublic:uti'izing such facilities from the teal and 'repeatedly,doAtonstrated clangers Of fire.
