Background/History: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale, donation, or disposal of office furniture from the Police Department and Library, and police vehicle equipment that have reached the end of their useful life or have been replaced with newer models. The Village will first register some items with iBid, an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois. If no bids are received through the online auction, staff will donate to a non-for profit organization, if applicable, or dispose of properly. The police vehicle equipment will be recycled because the items are obsolete and cannot be reused by other Police Departments. Many of the items will be recycled due to their physical condition (side chairs, bulletin boards, hutch, file cabinets, and metal rack). Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items.
